Protocolo COVID 19 (EN)

The protocols and health measures designed by Corporación Quiport guarantee the health security of passenger operations at Quito International Airport. These are based on the main guidelines issued by the World Health Organization, International Civil Aviation Organization, Ministry of Public Health of Ecuador, Municipality of the Metropolitan District of Quito and Airports Council International.

We ask passengers to heed these recommendations to take your flight safely and efficiently:

  • Check in online to speed up processes and save time at the terminal.
  • Arrive at the airport four hours before international flights and two hours before domestic flights.
  • Avoid wearing metallic objects to speed up security screening. If you carry loose change, keys or any metallic object, please place it in your hand luggage.
  • If you arrive with plenty of time before your flight or you wish to greet a passenger arriving to the city, remember that you can wait in comfort at the Quito Airport Center which offers multiple services with all health security measures.
  • Only passengers with a confirmed flight and who present a boarding pass or flight ticket can enter the terminal. The entry of relatives or companions is prohibited.
  • Airline tickets are not sold at the airport, so do not go to the airport to buy a ticket. Purchase your flight through airline and travel agency websites.

Quito Mariscal Sucre International Airport, in its efforts to protect the safety of customers and employees when it resumes commercial operations, is implementing the measures ordered by the authorities as well as other good practices which are being carried out in the industry internationally.

PROCESS FOR DEPARTING PASSENGERS

Control access to the flows within the buildings, implementing the following monitoring:

  • Only admit passengers who present their boarding pass, reservation or flight ticket.
  • Body temperature checks, based on the protocol established by the Ministry of Public Health (MSP), using thermal cameras and/or non-contact thermometers.
  • Mandatory requirement to use personal protective equipment established by the authorities (mask).
  • Elimination of manual inspections in airport security processes.

Reduced capacity in public areas and departure lounges, in compliance with social distancing rules.

Provision of alcohol-based hand sanitizer throughout all passenger processes (check-in, security screening-trays, passport control, departure lounges, jet bridges, buses, restrooms, etc.).

Cleaning and disinfection of all passenger transit areas. Disinfection will be carried out at the required frequency depending on the volume of flights and people traffic.

PROCESS FOR ARRIVING PASSENGERS

Verification of arriving passengers:

  • Body temperature checks, based on the protocol established by the Ministry of Public Health, using thermal cameras and/or non-contact thermometers.
  • Mandatory use of shoe sanitizer mats to disinfect the soles of shoes and baggage wheels to minimize contamination of surfaces.
  • Mandatory use of personal protective equipment established by the authorities (mask).
  • Present the passenger health declaration.

Provision of alcohol-based hand sanitizer throughout all passenger processes (passport control, baggage claim halls, customs, jet bridges, buses, restrooms, etc.).

Cleaning and disinfection of all passenger transit areas. Disinfection will be carried out at the required frequency depending on the volume of flights and people traffic.

PROTOCOLS DETERMINED BY THE NATIONAL COE FOR INTERNATIONAL ARRIVAL PASSENGERS

The National Emergency Operations Committee (COE) resolved to approve the following protocols for entering Ecuador from abroad, which will come into effect at 00:00 on October 23, 2021:

  • Any person who enters mainland Ecuador by international air travel must present a mandatory Traveler’s Digital Declaration of Health.
  • Every passenger who enters the country, over 2 years of age, must present a completed vaccination certificate against COVID-19 where at least 14 days have passed since second/complete doses or in turn a negative result of a RT-PCR test in taken up to 72 hours prior to boarding to Ecuador. Crewmembers are exempt from these requirements.
  • All passengers whose point of origin, stopover or transit is India must present a negative RT-PCR test carried out up to 72 hours prior to boarding the flight to Ecuador, this requirement is mandatory regardless of whether the passengers are already vaccinated. In addition, they must undergo preventive isolation for 10 days at their homes or in any place of accommodation of their choosing and at the expense of the traveler, regardless of the result of the diagnostic test for COVID-19 and their immigration status. In the event that the passenger has COVID-19 symptoms, they must report this occurrence through the web link enabled for this purpose.
  • Transit passengers from countries other than India need do not present a negative result of an RT-PCR test or a vaccination card against COVID-19.
  • Ecuadorian passengers who were UNADMITTED in other countries and who return to Ecuador need not present an RT-PCR test, however, the Ministry of Public Health will carry out a rapid antigen test upon arrival in the country.
  • All passengers arriving in Ecuador must report to the Ministry of Public Health the presence or absence of symptoms suggestive of COVID-19, as well as in their direct contacts by any means of communication.
  • All passengers who, upon arrival in Ecuador, present symptoms related to COVID-19, (fever, cough, general malaise, loss of smell, loss of taste, among others) regardless of the result of their RT-PCR test, will be evaluated by the personnel of the Ministry of Public Health prior to entering the migration area.
  • If it is determined that it is a "suspected case", a rapid antigen test (nasopharyngeal swab) will be carried out. If the result is positive, the passenger must perform ten (10) days of isolation after the date of sample collection in their domicile or in any place of lodging of election and cost of the traveler. For contact tracing, the passenger must report the people he or she had been in contact with. This information must be included in the Traveler's Digital Health Declaration.
    In the event that the rapid antigen test is negative, the passenger is not obliged to isolate, but must report symptoms suggestive of COVID-19.

CONDITIONS FOR ENTERING THE PROVINCE OF GALAPAGOS

The new guidelines approved by the Government come into effect as of 00:00 on October 23, 2021:

Every person, regardless of their migratory status, must comply with the following when entering the province of Galapagos:

Foreign/national tourists and/or Galapagos residents:

  • All passengers over 2 years of age must present a completed vaccination certificate against COVID-19 where at least 14 days have passed since second/complete doses or in turn a negative result of a RT-PCR test in taken up to 72 hours prior to boarding to Ecuador. Crewmembers are exempt from these requirements
  • Any person whose point of origin, stopover or transit is India, must comply with the requirements for entering continental Ecuador, described above, prior to entering the province of Galapagos.
  • Additionally, for the entry of national or foreign tourists, the traffic control card issued by the Special Regime Government Council of the Galapagos will be requested.

PROCESS FOR BUSINESS PREMISES INSIDE THE TERMINALS

All business premises at Quito International Airport are obliged to:

  • Establish the respective capacity of their premises based on the guidelines used for terminals and areas of high passenger numbers, for which it will implement:
    • Signage for waiting areas (circumferences separated in accordance with the required distances).
    • Signage for corridors for the circulation of people between access points and waiting points.
    • Signage for restricted seats.
  • Provide alcohol-based hand sanitizer for customers of their establishments.
  • Carry out routine cleaning and disinfection of areas.
  • Provide the established personal protective equipment (masks) to persons who work on the premises.

Corporación Quiport, through its Commercial and EHS&SR departments, will monitor compliance with these processes at the business premises.

PROTOCOL FOR ENTRY OF AIRPORT STAFF

  • Control access to the flows within the passenger terminal, for which the following will be monitored:
    1. Only accredited employees can enter the building (presenting their airport access card or ID from the company operating in the terminal).
    2. Body temperature checks, based on the protocol established by the Ministry of Public Health, using thermal cameras and/or non-contact thermometers.
    3. Mandatory use of shoe sanitizer mats to disinfect the soles of shoes and baggage wheels to minimize contamination of surfaces.
    4. Requirement to use the established personal protective equipment (mask).
  • For staff who enter through other buildings which have their own access points, the same criteria and controls used at the passenger terminals must be implemented.
  • Each organization that operates in the airport will establish the respective capacity of their facilities or offices, based on the guideline. For this purpose, the following will be implemented:
    • Signage for waiting points (circumferences separated in accordance with the required distances), when they receive visitors to their facilities.
    • Signage in corridors for the circulation of people between access points and waiting points.
    • Separation between work stations.
  • Each organization must evaluate the type of personal protective equipment its employees must use based on the risks. However, the following recommendation has been established:
